According to UnwiredView, Samsung is working on water and dust resistant variant of incredible Galaxy S4. This report does not follow the words of any serial leaker or unknown source, but of Young Soo Kim. Those who don’t know, Young Soo Kim is the President of Samsung Mobility’s Gulf division. At the Galaxy S4 launch, he was asked that what is stopping Samsung to develop ruggedized device, then he answered that this is one of on-going projects of company. So, if the words of Kim are anything to go with, then we may find water and dust resistant variant of S4 in the market in the near future.

Are you curious to know about the exact release of this water and dust resistant variant of Galaxy S4? Sorry! There is nothing encouraging for you, as Kim did not give any words on that. He did not even mention as to what could be the cost of this smartphone.

If we talk about the current market, then Sony’s flagship smartphone of the year, the Sony Xperia Z is the high-end smartphone that is water and dust resistant. This smartphone is the only by Sony that is catching good attention of customers, and is helping company balance its disturbed market share. It seems that Samsung is not happy on seeing Sony growing, and thus, is planning to make the competition field hot with its water and dust resistant Galaxy S4.

Not only the Samsung, but Huawei is also working on its water proof handset named Ascend D2. The company is expected to bring this smartphone in the market very shortly. So, Sony should keep itself ready to see the competition coming up in the near future.

Samsung has got some water and dust resistant handsets in the market, but all of them are low-end and mid-range smartphones, so it’s not any wow factor in them. It’s very surprising that why Samsung is not bringing this technology in its high-end devices. This surprise converted into question in S4 event, which then ended up with an encouraging reply from Kim.

In case you don’t know, Samsung Galaxy S4 features 5-inch full-HD screen that offers 1080×1920 pixels resolution. In some regions, this device is powered by 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core processor, while in the other regions; it is powered by 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. Other features in the smartphone include 13-megapixels rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 2GB RAM.

Are you planning to buy Galaxy S4, or will be waiting for water and dust resistant variant of the same?
