Android Phones To Get Key Lime Pie Update

This is a well-known fact that Android, the open source mobile operating system by search giant ‘Google’ is the best mobile operating system. Android devices are now on the top in terms of popularity and sales count. One of the biggest reasons why Android devices are so popular and everyone wishes to buy them is that the users can install custom ROM on them. By installing so, the users can taste new version of Android on their same old device. Well, not only the custom ROMs, but the device manufacturers keep rolling official firmware updates from time-to-time.

Talking about the Android’s versions, all of you might be familiar that the latest version of Android is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, with Android 4.2.2 being its latest variant. This version of Android boasts many amazing features and has been admired by all users so far. Anyways, do you know which is the next Android version?

Don’t enter into the world of complexity; the answer is ‘Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie‘. This upcoming version of Android has been in the news for quite some time now. Rumors about it have been rolling from a long. Google has not announced anything about the features, release date. But as per rumors, Google could unveil it at I/O event in May 2013.┬áThe event will start on May 15 and end on May 17.

The next version of Android to be named Key Lime Pie.

If we talk about the smartphones that will be getting Android Key Lime Pie, then it is the report of gossip site SamMobile that helps us. Last month, SamMobile received the report that five Samsung devices will be blessed with Android Key Lime Pie. However, the report only told the count of devices that will be getting Key Lime Pie, but not the exact names. Later on, the report of UnwiredView surfaced on the web that suggested both count and name of the devices that will be getting Key Lime Pie. Here is the list of those ‘lucky’ devices.

Samsung Galaxy S3

This is most successful Samsung smartphone as of writing. This smartphone originally runs Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. So, a big shift from ICS to Key Lime Pie is what owners of this device will be enjoying.

Samsung Galaxy S4

This latest smartphone by Samsung was rumored to come up with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Sadly, it did not happen, as the device packs Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). But the Galaxy S4 users will be able to taste Key Lime Pie, once it is released.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0

This one is not actually a smartphone. 8-inch sized tablet, the Galaxy Note 8.0 will also be getting Key Lime Pie. Originally, it has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy Note II

Yet another Galaxy Note device to get Android Key Lime Pie. Since this is the most selling device along with the aforementioned Galaxy S3, so no surprise that it will be treated with upcoming version of Android.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

Another tablet, owners of Note 10.1 will no longer have to use ICS version, as they will be treated with Key Lime Pie, once Google releases it.
